Default Stalling on hard right turns only

Hello all
I'm working with an 81 Vette 350 / auto with A/C edelbrock carb and side pipes
Car stalls when making hard right turns.......
Replaced mechanical fuel pump
Bin in the carb twice....adj the floats......
Then swapped carbs.......
Still stalling on hard right turns
Also ran a hot wire from battery to distributor thinking something in column could be problem....
No luck......
Any ideas.....????
Thank you

Have you checked your fuel pressure? Really the only thing I can think of is that that the fuel has sloshed to one side and then runs dry.

If your stall under a hard turn but the engine smooths out again immediately when you level it out, you most likely have a fuel pressure/float issue.

Since the carb is aftermarket, it could require more fuel pressure than your stock (even new) mechanical can provide.

Does it stall in N if you turn the wheel right ?

When you say stall is it a struggling stalling or is it an instant cut out ?

I had a very similar problem but mine stalled under hard acceleration and in the turns once or twice. I then hooked up a fuel pressure regulator and psi guage to the fuel line where I found that I was pushing 10-12 psi flooding out the bowls. After I set the regulator and had the guage reading 6 psi there were no more issues.

That motor is long gone though, and has since been replaced with a 383 and a Holley Double Pumper 750. BTW the Holley is way better than my old Eddy.

does it make a difference how much fuel you have in the tank? I would check fuel tank.you have a lining in there that maybe causing a problem.also I would check the fuel pickup tube for leaks.

Also tried wooden spacer on carb moved fan put a cooler therm and added a air dam

I still think you have a Eddy problem and not a temp or pressure issue.

You were asked a question earlier by diehrd to which you have not yet responded. It would be very helpful to know: "When you say stall is it a struggling stalling or is it an instant cut out ?"

An instant cutout would lead you to search for an electrical problem. The stuttering, sagging, slow die would lead you to other things, like a fuel slosh problem or even brake fluid being sucked into the intake from a master cylinder leaking into the brake booster.

Is there a way you can do a video? That way we can get an idea of what your "stalling" looks like. It might be easier to have an idea of what exactly you are experiencing.

Look for a short in the power to ignition. You have ruled out fuel.

If the engine dies immediately, you have a short occurring in the primary ignition system. Yes, I know you jumpered to the distributor, but that only rules out one side of the coil and says nothing about the module, coil continuity, grounds or debris that may be in the system.

Electrical. Thanks for being as specific as you can.

Sounds like something is shifting, causing a "pinch." The wires may have worn through and that shifting-pinch may ground out something.

Could be lots of different things. Start on the motor, but I bet there is something going on in your steering column.

I had the same issue with a new turn key crate engine fitted with the edelbrock 800 cfm AVS carb. Doing U turns or hard right turns would cause the car to cough mid turn.

Replaced with a Holley HP 750 and problem solved.
Gained about 15 HP at top end, but lost a few ponies in mid range on the dyno... but no cough and splutter with Holley under hard cornering or acceleration!
