Hello all! I'm a first time user with a 43 year history in owning corvettes. My 82 car, which I purchased new has a problem with the fuel pump and not wanting to start. Last summer the car started back firing along with dying out along with a ruff ideal. Then car would not start so I replaced fuel pump. Car starts runs ruff so I replaced fuel filter, no difference. Could not resolve problem it was late in the season stored car for winter. This spring car would not start so I checked the 10amp fuse on the main panel and it was fried!! Bad!
I replaced fuel relay and the fuse, car cranks no fuel coming out
So, I ran wire from battery charger, (12volts) to the brown/white strip wire on fuel pump connection on tank? Car starts and runs. Has anyone experienced this problem or know how I should proceed? I checked the wiring under the car that runs from relay to the tank, it seems to be fine.
So, the question that I'm assuming you are asking is has anyone had problems with the wiring on the tank?
So, I'll ask...
Have you check if you are getting power back at the fuel pump?
Is your fuel gauge working, if so your connections are probably good but if not, you may have connections or grounding issues at the pump.
Have you double checked your grounds
Did you replace the pump with a factory pressure or did you upgrade to the 85-89 version with MUCH higher pressure which will solve your running rough. I upgraded my pump and it runs like a totally different car.
Thanks for your response! Gauges work, checked grounds, replaced pump but did not upgrade. I'm not getting power to the pump. Once I connected battery charger to pump, car started. No power is coming from relay connection to the pump.???
