To all you knowledgeable people....
Am looking for a beginning point.
Have a 73 (bought it in 76!) And want to do a complete rebuild. Body and interior is great. Want to drop an LS in it. But first the suspension...... where the hell do I begin. I would like this car to ride and handle WELL, not like a brick with wheels. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance, Bob.
I'm assuming your car has the original 43 year old suspension. I just rebuilt my 72 susp. This past year. I bought it 42 years ago. The ride had degraded slowly over the years, and I didn't remember how it rode that long ago. I rebuilt with the original components (rubber), and was shocked at how it improved the ride. Now, if you intend to run road courses, going back to original may not be what you need to do. But, for just cruising, original is the way to go. There will be differing opinions on that, but for me, fully understanding my intended use of the car, and never being one to just spend extra money for more than I need, I choose original. Good luck.
