Got a good deal on some Viking DA front shocks and went to see if they would fit and because of the dials they don't. Says in the directions, some a-arms may need to be clearanced.
So who has DA or SA shocks with the stock lower a-arms? How did you alter the a-arm? At 1st I just thought to cut a notch for the dials, but now I'm leaning towards making the hole larger and still round-ish. Taking materials from both sides instead of just one seems like a better idea to least compromise the a-arm.
I'm sure it might be easier if I bought aftermarket and I plan on it for the uppers camber but not much gain with the lowers, not much more than 1lb lighter from the weights I've read on here.
My QA-1 single adjustable **** needed a little more clearance, so I used a rat tail file, and in about two minutes the shocks cleared just fine. Only filed where the **** needed clearance, not the entire hole in the arm.
This DA Viking shock doesn't come close to fitting. I would have to cut a decent amount and I'd be into the spring on the spindle side. From the pic I saw the QA1 were smaller bodied and even the lower mount tabs were narrower.
