Krazy over heating.....
Car been stable up untill the last few daze, but driving to the store just now AFTER changing the stat, the stupid thing is still going nutz on temps....~230f at idle in traffic on a lousy 2 mile round trip....makes no sense....been checked with a IR gun....I know the dash gauge is about 10f high, but it reading 240++ temps??? fans are on....Rad seems to circulate good, and looks clean inside from what I can see.....
trick is, after changing the stat 2 daze ago, I drove it around the burb, and no issues....leveled out at ~180f and so fine.....
I thought.....350 200 4r, one of them mini starters....another issue,
but my thought is water pump at this time.."???

Use the ir gun to check inlet and outlet temps of the radiator. A high temp drop indicates poor water flow, a low temp drop indicates poor air flow.
On heavy equipment, I look for 9 to 13 degrees temp drop with the thermostat open and at operating temp. Higher or lower is a problem for a well designed system.

new stat failing. replace it.
you could have trapped air, had to fill mine 3 times to resolve running hot.
to completely fill with no Air. just put radiator overfill hose into a full 1-2 liter bottle.
be sure hose is fully submerged, run and warm cycle and let cool a couple times.
it will push air out, and suck in liquid it needs to completely fill system.
after several warm T-stat opening and cool down cycles it should be good to go.
