Default Stock Side pipes 69

Does anyone know if I can use tuned headers with the chevy stock side exhaust pipes. It does not look like the outlet of the deader will be anywhere close to the inlet of the side pipes without major modifications. Thanks

No, normal length headers extend beyond the inlet of oem sidepipes.
Requires some custom work. or shorty headers, with custom pipe.

Hedman Hedders used to make a header that, with minimal cutting/trimming, would hook up to factory sidepipes. That MAY still be available. If not, maybe try McJacks.

However, the sidepipes are pretty restrictive, so I wouldn't worry too much about using the cast manifolds.

These are Hedman side pipe headers for a small block. Not exactly "tuned" though.

Thank you all for the info. I think I will go non-stock and install the hooker headers and side-pipes and try to train myself to not burn my calves.

Probably somewhat. I had a set of the Hookers back in the late 70s, and they were the black painted ones. Rusted BADLY, lasted only 2 summers. The chrome, I believe, are just plated steel, that's why I'm suggesting stainless.....

Thank you. I save up a little longer to get the SS. Did the side pipes reduce the heat in the passenger compartment significantly?

I wouldn't be able to answer that, as I installed the Hooker "side headers" on a Pontiac Trans Am I used to own.....

Stainless header/sidepipes. $$ you will love them also free flowing muffler inserts. Not glasspaks Maxflow inserts

Heres an option http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-1963-1982-Corvette-Stainless-Side-Pipes-and-Headers-/172277306517?hash=item281c871495%3Ag%3AA8EAAOSw0fhXi3vc&vxp=mtr&nma=true&si=zKjaU16%252F6LHC%252BOm8MdEjfhKQGnU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
