Looks nice :yesnod: Seems a little high to me, but probably is a pretty good deal since it comes with the suspension and all. It be a really good deal if he'd throw in the engine, tranny, wheels, tires and gas tank :D
It looks nice but waitest a darnest minute.. what does my eye see there ;) I see a trailing arm w/ pop riveted upper ball joints, that means they've never been replaced.
Looks like the guy did a real decent job on it to me. You know those ball joints can be installed using the original factory style rivets. I know what it takes to get a frame to this condition. I didn't notice what style (auto or stick) and what year because the years don't all interchange.
My money would say, if you want to do a complete frame off restoration FAST buy it! sure you could do it considerably cheaper providing you had the time and knowledge to do it yourself, but I'll bet if you took a really rusty frame to someone to have it done to look this good you would pay every bit that much and maybe more. Been there, done that (at least I did it myself, and no regrets). :)
Looks to be a 68-79 manual tranny frame. Would need mucho mods to be automatic compatible. Then you still have old technology suspension. No thanks, I'll build my own. $8,000 sheesh.
if he gets bids , i have a few things id like to sell them......like a $4000 spare tire , $5200 seat belts and the Brooklyn Bridge whose price is negotiable.
Really ,its not a bad deal for the amount of labor involved .I challenge anyone to do the same and keep track of money spent and labor hours involved and Ill bet its pretty close.Cranes Corvettes in San Diego started doing this last year and I heard he's been selling them steady for $9000. :yesnod:
Too steep for me but price is not really out of line if it is rebuilt to NCRS standards. If you took an old rusty stock frame/suspension to a professional shop and had them re-do it, it would more than likely cost you that much or more.
Sure you can save a bundle if you do it yourself (we all do that and love it) but that makes the assumption that your time is not worth anything.
I agree with you paintdaddy it is worth it. Look at the list of new parts. It has a removable crossmember which is a bonus. I have done this and it represents alot of work.
:)
To all of those who say he's a crook I can attest firsthand that it's a heck of a lot less than what I paid for my chasis restoration last year. Sure if you do all of the work yourself you'll save a bundle, but is he supposed to give away his time on the restoration? If I knew what I know now before I started my project, I'd go his route in a heartbeat.
Another thing to consider is that there is no core charge so you could sell your frame, assuming you are not going the #'s matching route, and recoup some the cost.
