Default [ebay] Could this possibly be a '77?

I wrote him and he swears up and down that it's a '77.

Ask him for the VIN. You should be able to identify the year from the 6th digit. I have a 77; that looks like a 78-79 to me. Either he's wrong or someone spent a lot of money to make that car look like something else!

Since when is 107,000 LOW miles?? Good grief!

He just sent me the VIN: 1z37L7s407282
I have my doubts as to whether it matches the VIN on the car though. :bs Those spoilers, marker lights and gills are '80-'82.

No way in Hell that's a '77 unless it's heavily modified to look like a stock '80 or '81. '77 was the last year of the flat back glass; this car has the fastback. '77 did not have a rear spoiler option; this car has an integrated spoiler. The hood is '80/'81, not '77 as is the side vent. The emblem on the gas door is '80 or '81. If the picture was a little sharper, I could tell you exactly what year it is. The '80 badge had chrome flagstaffs while the '81's were black. This guy is up to something. :nono:

I think I have detected a trend. Here is his auction for his 1977 Suburban: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1858636476

i decoded the vin and it is a `77 vin . which does not mean that the body is. someone could have taken the 77 body off at some point and replaced it with an 80-82 body. we all know the `77 was the last year for the small rear window.

:nonod: Somebody either swapped out a complete body (and interior?), or they swapped out VIN plates. What do YOU think?

BTW: This guy needs to go to photography skool... :smash:

I think I'll ask for a pic of the VIN on the birdcage and see what he says.

Thanks, Cap'n! Gotta love that white leather. (Especially during the hot summer months! :yesnod:) BTW, the wheels are 15x8 Cragar SS with BFG 235R60/15 RWL.

No reply. I think he's trying to pull something over on someone. :mad

Besides, for 2500? It's probably a salvage title or something. no way a car that pretty on the outside would go for less than 5-6K
