I'm not likely to win a restoration competition. I'm more of a get it to work and make it look relatively reasonable kind of guy.

I have very little lag now. Seems to spool right up, although I havn't gone beyond a pound or two yet. I've got a high stall converter. It might add some, but I really don't think it's going to be significant. I'm willing to trade whatever lag, if any, it adds for less likelihood of to detonating the engine with a hot air charge. I'm considering either a 4" flexible brake duct hose or welding up a 4" aluminum duct. I really should have taken care of this before dropping the body, but I was in a hurry to get the car driving and now it will be way more work.

On that note, my car has lots of parts from other cars. I spell "other cars" as not necessarily corvette or even GM. So my son suggested I put the badges of cars I borrowed parts from around the corvette or stingray badge. I'm going to have to make a JY run to pick up F150, Silverado, S40, Eclipse, Range Rover, Neon, shelby charger and maybe some other badges.

Got one of the hood vents installed. I'm waiting for the mate. It's from a 86 Shelby Charger.

I took the vette to a local cruise night to shoot the bull with other gearheads. All of a sudden I hear my name called over the PA. So I go over there and they hand me a trophy. Apparently some one saw past the ratty body and noticed there was more goin on than meets the eye.

It was a Best of Show trophy.

Congrats, could you or did you use the PWM of the efi to turn and off the alt like the factory ecm did for LS cars?

Yes. The 2006 and later, 2 pin alternator is controlled by PWM. In my case, it is controlled by my DIY computer. I set it for very low output when the car first starts and then slowly increase till 14.1 volts.

I wrote an article on how to use these:
2 pin alternator, don't throw it away

I've been having an exhaust backfire since I put the car back together and changed over from the 5.3 to the 6.0. I assumed I got dirt into one or more of the 80lb injectors while I re-assembled the car. I changed over to 1000cc injectors (92 lb) yesterday and that fixed the issue. Engine sounds way healthier.

Next I'm working on boost control, strapping down the engine, improving the cold air intake. Then to the dyno and then the track.

Goal for the dyno is 700 to 900 RWHP.
Goal at the track is 10.0 at around 135.

Great to hear. Fan modules for radiator attached to the radiator support bars, close to the fans. Fan controller for the intercooler fans on intercooler support. I can take a photo if you wish.

I didn't strap the engine down as originally planned. Instead I built a torque bar that keeps the drivers side from launching out of the engine bay under high torque. It's bolted onto the LS engine mounts on one end and travel is limited by the frame and a rubber vibration insulator on the other end. Worked out nice.

Also, I finally installed my rear window.

Well, it really didn't go exactly as well as planned.

I spent most of the time trying to have it make more that 1 lb of boost. Turns out I forgot to tighten one of my intake hose clamps. Of course it was one of the ones that are almost impossible to see. Anyway, finally found that and started making boost.

Got up to about 6psi and the rear wheels where slipping on the roller. So I strapped the rear down tighter and now the right wheel is rubbing the body on the passenger side while on a pull.

That's why you like the stance so much. Next time to the dyno and I'll raise the rear coilovers to avoid this and also I'm going to shave some of the body over the wheel well.

So the only dyno charts I have are two incomplete pulls to about 83 mph (probably around 4500 RPM) and engine was really not tuned yet. Made 417 RWHP through the automatic. There's alot more in there.

I didn't get much time actually tuning, so it's still running pig rich under boost and my boost control is not all there yet. But I do have lots of log data to take home and I'll do some tuning at home, off the dyno, from all the log data I gathered. When logging, the AEM records pretty much all of the possible parameters every 1/1000 of a second that you can play back whenever.
