Default Quick Caliper Question

Rebuilding front calipers....the one on the right front is sleeved, the one of the left front is not sleeved.

Can I still use the "O" ring kit in the unsleeved caliper? I don't see any score marks in it and the pistons were nice and tight.

Thanks

Russ

They are the same diameter so I don't see why not.

Thanks CA-Legal,

I was thinking the same thing but when it comes to the brakes or steering, I really want to be right!

Thanks again

Russ

I think the only issue might be if there is corrosion on the piston bores which is a concern with unlined caliper bores.

There wasn't any corrosion but replaced the caliper anyway. There was a problem on one of the lips and I wasn't happy with the way the seal fit.

Everything is good now.

Thanks

Russ, it's actually quite rare that an original caliper would have survived this long without already having been replaced with a sleeved one. Especially one without major corrosion inside.

I bought a '77 new back in the day and within 3 years was already having to replace a front caliper due to leaking. The SS sleeved calipers were just becoming available from the aftermarket at that time.

Good luck... GUSTO

Gusto,

It wasn't an original but when I rebuilt the right side, I could tell right away that it was sleeved. This one didn't look like the right one. I took the left one to NAPA and bought one from them and you could tell right away that it was sleeved also.

The one I removed may have been sleeved, but sure didn't look it. Any way, it is replaced with a sleeved one and new "O" rings installed.

Thanks

Russ
