I drove and partially restored the ’82 in my signature for about five years, so I am aware of a majority of the areas of concern for ‘82s in general.
However, I’m looking at an ’82 CE tomorrow morning and am wondering about areas I should be concerned with unique to a CE.
For instance, one of the major differences between the two cars is the lifting back glass. What are my concerns here (i.e. weather striping, hinges, shock supports)?
I am also aware of the lack of reproduction decals for these cars, which this one will most likely need. Is anyone aware of a source for these?
Do check that back window hardware closely.
Also, make sure the wheel caps are all there and in good shape.
They are really hard to find, and can get real expensive on ebay.
Also check the interior well. Some of the colors inside the car are very
hard to match and find from the catalogs.
Good Luck! :yesnod:
I saw the decals available in one of the major suppliers, don't remember which one (Mid America or Corvette Central maybe) but they were $1000.00 per set. The interior parts will be more expensive as well since the door panels, carpet and seat covers were different. Other than the hatch and the above, everything else was pretty much same as a stock 82.

you didn't read the fine print. NONE of the suppliers have the fade decals
racinhound, that's great news! Availability of the fade decals has remained a showstopper for me to even look at most CEs. I knew of phoenixgraphix being a supplier of hard to find decals but didn't realize how far they had come.
Gm is the only co that finance the equiptment needed to make the fade decals. Quite a expensive process. There is a co that reproduced the fade decal using a different type of process. I am waiting to hear back from them to go see this decal on a car. Stephen
Personally, I wish they were painted on at the factory. Then we wouldn't be dealing with looking for a needle in a haystack trying to find these dang fade kits and feeling like we were robbed buy one.
One other drawback for me is the hood decal fade has "crackling" in it that isn't really visible unless you look up close, but it's there nonetheless, and the car was repainted with new decals about 4 years ago. Grrrr.....
