Re: any tips before i drop the transmission (java0881)
- Unbolt the driveshaft U-bolts and pull DS away.
- Remove yoke for extra room.
- Unbolt the mounting at rear of tranny. Two exhaust ubolts hold one bracket on. A couple bolts go straight up at the mount. A couple more in that same area are installed horizontally. Two more bolts are horizontal just below the u-joint on the backside. Two more bolts come down from the top but are under the shifter mount. Jack, wiggle and swear as needed.
- Remove 3 shift linkages at the tranny.
- Remove lower shifter to mount bolt from below.
- Remove console insert.
- Remove shifter boot.
- Remove upper shifter to mount bolt from up top.
- Pull shifter out through the console.
- Remove any loose brackets at rear of tranny.
- Remove shift lock cable at top rear corner of tranny.
- Remove some sort of switch mounted to the drivers side of the tranny.
- Remove 4 bolts from tranny to bellhousing.
- Pull tranny back and up over crossmember.
- Drop it out at the front.
- Unbolt bellhousing.
- Remove linkage and spring from fork.
- Pull off bellhousing and snake between exhaust to remove.
- Unbolt and remove clutch assembly.

WOW...good job by Larry!! sounds basic, but don't "drop" the trans. It is so easy to crack the case, and then you gotta get a new one $$$ A couple pieces of rope could keep it from slipping thru greasy hands. And do be sure the jackstands are good...We don't want to read about you...
good luck :seeya
