Paint Time - Metallic or Pearl
Almost three years later and the 73 is ready for the final stage in its restoration. The paint.
I want to keep it the same color scheme as it is now. White with red hood/center/racing stripe. I will be painting this myself with the help of the local vocational schools instructors and paint booth.
I was thinking of pearl but am wondering if metallic colors would be better.
Any thoughts and/or experiences are appreciated. :cheers:

I would use pearl on the white, for the red I would use kandy paint as a fade over the white , sand with 1000 grit and then clear coat it. at night you will get a nice red and in day light , you will love it. :cool:

I always thought I wanted metallic until mine was painted with pearl. It's a basecoat clearcoat with copper pearl in the clear (I think). At night, or in certain lights, it's a different color. Not sure if you can see it in this picture, but I really like it.

I would stick with code 10 classic white. Also, have you considered going to an auto graphics shop of some kind and having the red accents applied with some kind of high quality decals? This way, you could remove them more easily if you ever get tired of them, or offer this as a selling point in the (sad) event you ever got rid of it. Just my $.02. Luv those '73's!
