Re: Need number for lower radiator hose BBC (Steve Straus)
Steve, don't most BB's have the two piece hose with the metal tube in the middle going over the front support member? I picked up the "stock hose" for the water pump to the pipe spacer, and a 8" bulk piece of the same diameter. Works fine.
Re: Need number for lower radiator hose BBC (Steve Straus)
I thought the 2 piece hose was just if you had A/C.

Steve
I'm not sure on that one, Mine did have A/C however and it is two piece. Haven't really paid that much attention to tell the truth when looking at other BB C3's to see if the A/C and non A/C hoses were different.

steve.
I had the same problem with my bb .My problem was when i changed my water pump i installed the short water pump instead of the long one this is the length of the spout at the hose connection,as a result the stock hose would not fit,too short.I had to lnstall a piece of exhaust pipe in the middle to make hose longer.don;t know if this is your problem....it was mine. geno

I didn't think Corvette's *ever* used long water pumps. Are you sure about this? With a long water pump your fan would hit your radiator.

Re: Need number for lower radiator hose BBC (Cool427shark)
Steve,
I used the NAPA hose for by BB427. I dont know what the part number was. My hose was one piece. It was a pita to put on.
That's funny you should mention that, I JUST ordered a lower hose from napaonline.
Gates usually does me right, but in this case they've failed miserably. I've tried every lower hose they make for the car, BB or SB. None of them fit. I know I have a Factory BB radiator and my water pump is just a plain BBC water pump.
The gates hoses didn't have the springs in them either, which kind of bothered me.
In any case, I ordered Napa NBH7687 which has the spring in the hose.
I can't believe I'm having this much damn trouble with a stupid hose. This isn't supposed to be difficult.
Re: Need number for lower radiator hose BBC (Steve Straus)
My Corvette Parts Catalog shows a part number 3947868 for the lower hose. It fits 69 427's and 70 to 74 454's. gmpartsdirect.com(a genuine GM Dealer) says it is still available. GM list is $25.67, their cost is $12.84+shipping and handling(about $8.00). The upper hose is available also, number 331876 for about the same money(second part is about $4.00 s&h). Nice thing about GM hoses is that that have the GM logo and part numbers. Good luck

I've heard the newer GM hoses don't hold up very well. Has anyone else heard this? If the napa one doesn't fit well, I'll go this route.
