Default Low Fuel Light

My Low Fuel Light, is Intermitting going on and off. My fuel gauge is working so, I don't think its the float. Does anyone know if there a sensor inline somewhere...

It works of the same sending unit as the gauge.

Then why would the gauge work just fine and the Low Fuel Light, go on and off, intermittent..

My best guess is that the low fuel light module has a problem. New ones are available from Willcox.

does it matter how much fuel is in the tank?when the tank has low fuel, it will slosh a round a lot .The float maybe just moving that much .

The low fuel sending circuit is not sensitive to quick voltage changes (float moving around quickly). It has capacitor circuits to prevent this. But all the same if it flickers then there is still a problem in the module. Replace all the capacitors on the circuit with the same rating and re-test or just purchase another module.

The gauge is working. The low fuel Light is turning on and off, as I
drive. It doesn't matter, if I have a full tank or 1/2 tank. Its not slosh, if I'm idling in front of the house, it still goes on and off.

It doesn't flicker, it will be on for a few minutes. then go off and then come back on a gone. Two minutes later off again...

Sounds like a bad module or poor connections.

The last time my low fuel light was on I was already out of gas. Don't put much faith in it's accuracy.

It is the transistorized board failing.

Serious, just get a new one. You can take out your glove box and do a reach around for installation. 10 minutes max and 8 of those are routing around for another beer.

I'm going to order it from Willcox, this weekend... So I remove the dash panel and I'll be able to reach it... How do I remove it, does it just snap out, are there wires going to it...

The module should just twist a quarter turn to the left and come right out.

No wires, it twists into a bulb like socket, in fact some have mistakenly put one of the plastic bulb sockets in place of the module, but it doesn't work right, the bulb stays on. The low fuel light is plugged into the module and the module is twisted into the back of the gauge cluster.

The module works off the ohm input to the fuel gauge so if the gauge is still working fine then your issue would probably be the module. It could be a flex circuit the module mounts into as well, there are three fingers off the module that touch the flex board and possibly one could be bent, corroded or you flex circuit board could be defective..

The module has a built in delay to it so that when you turn are a little low on fuel and you turn a hard corner the lamp won't flicker off and on.

StreetRat makes a good point too... some of the old GM modules wouldn't come on until it was too late... On our module, we raised the limit to avoid this issue so that when the needle is right inside the red area the lamp should come on.

Yep, my gauge works just fine. Like I said earlier, I'll be driving along and the light will come on. It will stay lit, for a minute or two. Then it will go off and a few minutes later, its back on again..
I'm going to order one from your guy this weekend..
