Default coming from a C5, maybe getting into a C3

:seeya hello c3 people, sold my C5, went foreign but... i think im going to sell it and come back! (an xterra), leaning toward a c3... I like the 68 to 72's, just wondering, is the front end longer on a '73+ than it is on a '69?? or are my eye's playing tricks on me?

I dont know about your first question but here are some resources to help yoou inspect a potential purchase.

http://www.corvettefaq.com/ http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/dpg/part1.htm http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/dpg/part2.htm http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/dpg/part3.htm

Good luck with the car hunt and feel free to ask any question here. Someone will know the answer.

Those links above will give you all you need to inspect a C3. Just watch for rust in the frame "kick-up" just forward of rear wheels, the windshield frame and radiator support. Those seem to be the most common places. Good Luck keep us informed.

Yes.. The Front of 73's and up are longer due to the Rubber bumper. 68-72's are solid chrome bumper's front and back .. 73's have a rubber front and a chrome back. 74's up are rubber, rubber.

How could you stand looking at the rear end of a C5? It hurts my eyes so bad I have to close them. You will love the C3s...IMHO. The design is timeless and they have a look all their own. No computers is a good thing! Have fun shopping....

Yeah - don't pick on the C5s - let's ALL gang up on the C4s.

Honestly, though - I've always loved the sharks. The C4 vettes never
left a good taste - in their looks anyways.

When the C5s first came out - it was like a breath of fresh air. It seemed
to me that the new body had a hint of the shark cars put back into it.
The front fender treatment is much improved over the straight curve
shape of the C4s. The rear end actually looks very similar in structure
to the chrome bumper C3s. Add a couple chrome bumpers to a C5 rearend
and she would look very nice IMO.

You still can't come close to a nice 68-73 back side.

Don't tell her, but I never liked the rear bumper on my 75. Shhhhh !
:seeya

Sorry... I like all Vettes but agree the shark, with the beautiful coke bottle shape (read: Sexy) defined Corvette for me.

Just one more note about looking for rust--be aware that people try to hide it. I've seen several cars where people have used bondo or fiberglass and then painted over it to fill in the evidence of rust, especially in the area where you can see the windsheild supports in the pocket in front of the doors. Looked at one for a forum member a couple weeks ago where if you didn't know what you were looking at it would have been really hard to tell, but it "bulged" where it shouldn't have and when I looked close I could see the unevenness of the bondo, and I flaked a bit of the paint off with my fingernail and could see it. Be very suspicious of freshly painted frames, too.
