C3 cold engine start problem
Hi I am new.
I bought Corvette C3 1977 in Florida and imported to Poland.
Everything works great but I have one problem to be solved.
When I try to start cold engine after depressing gas pedal 4-6 times before the operation, engine fires up for several seconds and then dies.
It seems that engine can not operate on slow turns. When I try to add gas when engine operates to warm it up it dies momentally.
I have to repeat the operation 6-9 times (each time engine fires up and dies) than after 9-10 tries engine is operating on slow turns.
When engine is warm it fires up and operates on slow turns at the first time.
Battery is a brand new, plugs are new, high voltage wires are new.
It could be a problem of the fuel pump or carburetor.
I do not want to change to many things that is why I looking for giving me a hand in this case.

From reading the description, it sure sounds carburetor choke related to me.
What kind of carb do you have?
Does it have a Choke and is the choke working?
I would experiment adjusting the choke and fast idle screw to see of that helps.

Sounds like the choke to me also. Post picks with the air cleaner off , both left and right sides of the carburetor please. Thanks

You should only need to depress the accelerator once to set the choke. You are probably flooding the engine with 4-6 kicks at the gas pedal.

and once that overdose (4-6 pumps) of gas is burned, it dies due to choke not working,
which would keep the fuel mixture rich until warmup.
Check the choke operation thoughly, your 4-6 pumps is a bandaid for the real problem.
