I've searched the archives, and couldn't find an answer to my question, so I'll reopen this wound. Obviously, removing the 4 nuts from under the dash is a major PITA!!! My question is: In the cowl-tray-wiper compartment-thing just in front of the windshield, there is some type of inspection plate directly in line with the booster. It is held on by 4 bolts, two rivets, and some weatherstripping goo. If this was removed, would it give better access to the booster nuts? I wanted to ask before I chiseled off the rivets.
I FOUND SOME LONG EXTENSIONS THAT BEND LIKE A SPRING AT THE AUTO PARTS STORE THAT MAD THE JOB OF REMOVING THE NUTS EASIER.HOPE THIS HELPS WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
It was a pain in the neck for me (literally) but I was able to remove the booster without removing anything else. Getting it back in may be another story though.
Good luck, get a pillow.
Getting it back in can be a lot easier if you use regular nuts, lockwashers and a little loctite instead of the plastic-sleeved lock nuts that OEM used.
(I can't remember the name for that type of nut.)
Anyhow, with regular nuts and lockwashers, you can get them screwed down to where you only have to get a socket or wrench on them to snug them up. The other ones have too much friction so you have to spin them all the way down with a wrench/socket.
And that, friends and neighbors, is a pain in the pooper.
Dude, how the hell did you fit your hand all the way up there?
Take out the driver's seat. put your head where your feet should be and your feet where your head should be and them get used to looking at things upside-down and backwards. :yesnod:
