I hope someone can help me. I have a problem with my 1971 Corvette Coupe wiper motor operation. The wiper motor doesn't seem to turn on unless the wiper over-ride switch is turned on. However, once the wipers start moving the regular (on/off) switch can change the speed, but not shut-off the wipers (in-another words the wipers do not go back into the compartment).
I'm not sure if the wiper switch (on/off) is bad or if it is something else? Please help!
Most likely it's the regular dash switch.
It sounds like the override is working properly. It's used to turn off the wipers only so it should nomally be in the on position.
It sounds like the wipers are always stuck on and you are using the override as an off switch.
Try a search in the archives. I believe this problem can be traced to a faulty ground. I don't know for sure, but I read an earlier topic about this. I believe the motor constantly has 12V, and the switch controls the ground.
