winter engine upgrade
This winter I plan to upgrade the NOM 454 in my 68 convert. The LF-8 left the factory June1, 1978 in a one ton truck with 250 hp at the crank. Sometime later the PO of my vette transplanted it into its new fiberglass home. Just to get a starting point, I had a dyno run done this morning. With just the add-ons by the PO (alum dual plane intake, Heddman headers and 750cfm QFT carb) the hp went from 250 at the crank to 304 at the rear wheels. I plan to put aluminum heads with 2.30/1.88 valves and 109 cc chamber, aluminum rockers and a cam still to be chosen. Guess I should make sure my insurance is up to date.
