Default Tranny fluid filling question

I'm taking the TH350 from my '78 to get rebuilt today and when I get it back it will have no transmission fluid in it. It looks like to completely refill it I will have to put about 22 pints of fluid in and I was wondering, since I have never totally refilled a tranmission, can I put it in through the dipstick tube or is there another way I need to do this? Hopefully this isn't too stupid of a question, but I am all about avoiding messes wherever I can, especially after the mess I made taking it out! Thanks.

 I would think that's the only place to put it in. However, I would check with the shop cause I would think that they would fill it for testing and return it as complete. All just guesses. good luck. :seeya

I think the service manual says to add the fluid through the fill tube and then go through each of the gears while in idle. Make sure that your choke is not on making the rpms higher. Slowly go through the gears for about 10 seconds in each gear.
