The gear is missing some teeth on my drivers side. Would it be better to order the repair gear where I have to drill and rivit the new gear to the old, or just order the whole gear and replace it. And does anyone know what step and or pit falls I am am going to run into when I remove that assembly from my door?
removing and installing the window regulator is pretty straight-forward. It's been a couple years since I replaced mine, but I recall lining up the sheet metal screws was a PIA. :smash:
Get a "rebuilt" regulator assembly (minus motor) and send yours back for the core exchange. Trust me on this.
Also, if it's the first time out for the regulator, there's three rivets holding it in that need to be drilled and replaced with bolts (easy, really).
Don't try to short cut the job by not pulling the window all the way out.
Hardest part is adjusting everything after it's all back in.
