Default New member with a question..please help

Hi all. Just joined the forum. Looks like a great place! I don't have a Vette yet but I'm looking. I'm looking at one not to far from me. It's a 71 convertable. Red/red with a white top. 350, 4 speed, PS, PB, tilt/tel, AC. The body looks nice, paint is old but shine very well. Int. is nice with no rips in the seats, carpet is great. Top has no rips. Every thing works but the AC. 83,000 miles. Engine looks clean. Drives nice and tight.

Is there any thing I should look out for? Owner is not sure he want to sell it. Wants $17,500. Is this to high for this car? Thanks for any help.

Lee

That price is probably in the middle of the range. Is it a numbers matching car?

theres no way id pay 17,500 for it. it looks like the owner really likes his car. if i was you id keep looking and let him keep it, a good place to start looking is e-bay. i see nice looking vette's go for 6,000. the only downside of course is you would have to go look at it in a different state, but you would be saving 10,000. good luck with your search

If it is all original and matching numbers the price is (to me) a tad high.

If it is not, I would go look elsewhere.

Either way, look around and see what else is available. That can give you something for you yourself to compare against.

Welcome to the shark tank.

From the description given that car could be worth 17,500 or 7500.
With out being able to see, feel, touch, smell it in person in my opinion there is no way to evaluate an old Corvette. There are just too many if and buts.
Some are nice some are junk, the problem is they are not priced accordingly

ImO 17K would be a fair price for a matching numbers un-molested BB with the same options. but for a SB the price feels high.

good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Depends on the engine. If orig LT-1 then might be close, any other engine it is too high, or at least the seller is too high. :)
