emergency-need help fuel pump
Was fixing my tach cable, turned engine with coil disconnected to see if tach was working then all of a sudden I smell gas big time. I look and my fuel pump is leaking like a siv. The engine is off but it is still leaking bad. A closer look, and it is coming out of a small hole, like a breather hole, on the top half of the fuel pump. Can someone tell me what this hole is for and is my pump shot or is there another explanation? Thanks

Yep, your fuel pump is shot. The little hole atop is a breather hole for the pump diaphram. When perforated, it will leak there. Remove the incoming fuel line and temp plug it, or you'll get a siphon action. Vent the area real good, and keep a pan under there to catch any drips till fixed. Good Luck -Rod :chevy
