'76 Speedometer problems

My speedometer started jumping between 0-25mph then smooths out up to 50mph where it stops no matter how fast I go. It sticks there until I decelerate almost to a stop then the needle drops back down. I have removed and lubed the cable with no change in the problem. Any suggestions?

Since your cables are spiining it sounds like you need to have it rebuilt.

go to http://www.contemporarycorvette.com and look at a used replacement

Be wary of replacements. The fading on the unit may not match the existing gauges. Better to rebuild yours.
