I used weldwood contact cement per a couple of sources. Also kinda of like
reupholstering a chair so you have to pull it here and there and play with it a bit to get it to look good, but very doable compared to many C3 projects, ha! I think I did use ss staples with an Arrow staple gun. the staple length you need you can judge by the fabric thickness and tack strip thickness. I made some replacement tack strips where needed from some hardware store wood trim moldings.
Do yourself a favor, if you have the crappy plastic tack strips throw them away and get some good fiber board tack strips. I could never get the staples to hold in the plastic ones. Bought some fiber board ones and they worked great. I used 3M contact adhesive from Home Depo I think. Worked great.
I installed a cloth top. I let it sit in the sun for a couple of days before installing it. It was my first Vette top so I know I'd do a better job the second time. Oh well, I am pleased with the results but like anything you do for the first time you can always do better the next time.
