Default Head gaskets for Aluminum heads

I'm getting ready to order a bunch of goodies which include Edelbrock RPM heads. I'd like to improve on the quench dimension (head to piston) and am curious....are these gaskets ok to use on a daily driver? I asked Edelbrock and they're noncommittal.

0.015" Shim for Iron or Aluminum Heads
Price: $19.50
Part # FEL1094

Material: Embossed Shim with Precision Rubber Coating
Gasket Bore: 4.100"
Thickness: 0.015"
Gasket Volume: 3.2cc

For use in some sportsman drag racing and flat top piston oval track classes. Can not be used on 400ci engines. Embossed shim with precision coating does not cause any brinneling on aluminum heads. 1 gasket per package!

I'm liking the Edelbrocks because of the flow numbers and their new heart shaped chamber for better combustion, and D shaped exhaust port. The intakes are rectangular port.

Felpro makes good stuff. If they say that they are good for aluminum heads, I'd give em a try.

Got Trick-Flows myself. Love 'em!

How far down in the hole is your piston at TDC? You have to look at piston rock in the bore and minmum quench height. :smash: Piston and head collision is a bad thing! :seeya

I had a new base model 350 crate motor installed last June. Specs from the Scroggin-Dickey site below. I'm assuming right now that the quench dimension is huge. That's why I'm making preperations for it. If wrong about it, then a conventional 031 or 041 gasket will go on.

Core Value: $100.00
Transmission: A/S
Cubic inches: 350
Liters: 5.7

All new components assembled into a NEW 4 – bolt main block. Not Remanufactured / Not Rebuilt! An all-new 350 Chevy engine backed by the best warranty in the USA!

Engine Name: 350 LM1
Horsepower: 249 HP @ 5,000 RPM RPM
Torque: 304 Ft/Lbs @ 3,500 RPM
Compression Ratio: 8.50 to 1
Block: 4 – Bolt, 2 Piece Rear Seal, 4.000” Bore
Crankshaft: Cast Nodular 3.480” Stroke

This engine can also be used in 1986 model pick-ups. The flexplate (flywheel) must also be changed. Use flexplate #471598.
