I recently noticed when yanking my 79 C3 seatbelts they do not catch.
I yanked them really hard and would expect them to stop short like any seatbelt, but they just give. Its like this on both sides.
Im worried what would happend if I were to crash
Luckily its in winter storage now, and hopefully I can fix this before the spring.
Anyone had this issue, what part/s needs replacement?

I just put new ones in the 81, because they were torn from catching in the jamb for years. You just pull the door pillar moldings and screw the new ones in. I "think" they were $300 a pair.
The seat belt mechanism is designed to lock when the car stops abruptly. You can try pulling on the belt while stopping to see if the inertia mechanism is still functioning properly.
As mentioned, the inertia mech seems to be dysfunctional. Sometimes they can be fouled with lint, spider web, mouse nests, rust. I'd remove, clean, lubricate with some PTFE lubricant. Maybe it's only inertia that engages them and not yanking? Yours is similar in form and function to the one below.
