Default Headers and the idler arm

I've just fitted headers to my 350 and one of the tubes is about 1/8" from the idler arm.

Is this too close? Will the heat damage the seals or dry out the grease quickly?

Has anyone fitted some sort of heat shield for this?

Regards

Mine is as close or closer than yours. I haven't had any problems with it being that close. You could add some clearance by denting the header tube.

I know this is a bit of an older thread, but I will be running Hedman headers and everything clears for the mock up but it's also about an 1/8"-1/4" from the idler arm. Not to concerned to much except for the grease filled rubber boot. I'm worried that it will burn out the grease or burn the rubber boot. How have things held up? It's also about 3/8"-1/2" from the PS cylinder. Again just worried about heating the steering fluids etc. Thanks!

I didnt have any problems. I've since sold the car to a friend. He doesn't drive it a lot, but he's pretty careful about the car and hasn't complained. I guess it's ok.
