Oops electrical - Earth?

Oops electrical - Earth?
Hi Guys, All of a sudden my cluster gauge lights don't work(speedo & rev are fine)and at the same time the temp spikes out but if I turn the dimmer down it comes back to normal - Earth I guess?

If I were a betting man- I'd put my money on a bad ground at the cluster or Voltmeter (guessing your car is a 75 or later...)

Thanks team,I appreciate your input, Right now I've pulled the cluster while I was at it thought I might as well check for a vacuum leak behind it

Right, found the issue with the electrics, it was the main harness plug had just about popped out-my fault for not checking it last time I had the dash out!!
Also fixed the vacuum leak, which was the vacuum switch- needed a little Vaseline grease
