Well sort of...picked up the Vette today and they converted it to R134A. I will post the pics I shot today on Saturday. I had to design a ground wire with a 20 Ohm resister as per my mechanic which did not work and had to revert to a simple ground wire. Outlet temp at the vent is 55 degrees. The vacuum system which controls the upper vent is shot. The small vacuum line is dead-ended on the firewall and crumbles due to dryrot when touched. So I'll have to tear the dash apart and replace the whole A/C vacuum system, that' wait till next week when my headlight switch arrives in the mail. But even without top vents the interior got nice and cool after a 15 minte drive (just from the lower vents). The chrome compressor and polished lines loook great and all the wires are loomed, came out great. I have 2 movies of the engine compartment and the exhaust sound when i left the camera 1 foot from the tailpipes (louder than sin) :D I shot with my new digital camera. Once I learn how to post movies I'll add it to this post.
Cali...do you have a early or late 77- vir or drier/accumulator? I am ready to change my early 77 with vir over to either r-134a or a r-12 substitute. Sounds like you are having low vent temps with the R-134a.
