I have the original rims and tires for my 1975. The rear tires are scraping on the brake line mounts. The rear end does not seem to be modified. Has anyone has this same issue?
How about some photos - as it's very difficult to imagine how that's possible. Tire size would be nice to know too.
Sorry car is in the shop...Can't get photos at this time. However, the wheels were ordered from Ecklers and are 15 x 8 rally wheels. The tires are BFG radials 255/60R15.

Oh, Well while they should fit without rubbing (That's what I'm running on all 4 corners) 255/60R15 is larger than the original GR70x15.

Only thing they could touch is the bracket to hold the parking brake cable. Factory clearance is about .3" if the clip retainer (looks like mickey mouse head) is bent out of shape this could scrape on the rim at the edge or at the tire near the edge. Other possible is a rear sway bar that is bent or damaged but factory clearance is about 1".

theres a tread around here that says 255 may rub due to width. 245 was specified as the max width for a stock rim. You may be able to relocate the parking brake cable as that is usually the subject of the rub. You can also try a thin spacer to bump it out a tiny bit but you may encounter the fender. they also encountered arub at the front as well. But some others didnt have that problem, Good luck
255/60-15 was the optional tire starting in 1978. Some have suggested it may have involved some minor trimming of the lower front fender edges. Nothing on the rear suspension was different between 1975 and 1978.
One of the first things I did to my 1973 when I purchased it in 1988 was to install 255/60-15 Goodyear Gatorbacks on factory aluminum wheels. No clearance issues (or fender trimming required) at all.
A number of folks here have installed 275/60's on the rear and claimed no issues.
The standard Corvette 15"X 8" Rally wheel (AZ) has 4" backspace. If the wheels you purchased from Eckler's have 4" backspace, there should not be a clearance issue.
