Total Seal Rings & Quick Seat
Engine has 46,000 miles on it, and when I was replacing the heads 1,500 miles ago, there was no wear ridge on the top of the cylinders. I DO NOT want to pull the engine or drop the crank, so I am looking for a way to replace the pistons and rings WITHOUT honing.
I read that Moly rings will seat faster than plain. Total Seal makes Moly rings and they have a product called Quick Seat that allegedly allows the rings to seat quickly. Since I only put about 1000 to 1500 miles a year on, I don't want to be breaking the engine in for a couple of years.
Anyone have any thoughts, experience, etc., on using this method?
