I just finished replacing my rear brake caliper on my 68. All is good with the exception: The replacement caliper came with two brass washers and I don't know which side of the lock washer they go on. Inside or outside of the lock washer. My factory manual does not show them at all.
I switched from rubber to steel/braided hose lines to the calipers, and only use one of the brash washers. No leaks so far.
But I wish I could say the same for the rebuilt calipers themselves. Lately they tend to leak quite often.
When I got my stainless steel braided hose kit it came with two brass washers. The AIM shows the brass washers go in the front calipers with the hose. The back calipers have a different type of fitting for the hard line going into the back of the caliper that doesn't use a washer. I believe to mount the calipers to the caliper bracket you only need the lock washers.

Brass ? mine were copper !
To the O.P , copper is softer to get a better seal. and yes there,s only one "soft" washer that goes between the flexi-line fitting and the CALIPER and that's on the front .
The rear caliper should have a short hardline coming out the back of it which turns 180 and then joins a flexi-line (no washers)

Reason: clarify a soft washer is used

Thanks, I was referring to the rear. The hard line is fine it was a matter of bolting the caliper up. I installed with the copper washer in front of the lock and so far all it good.
