Default LTF TI coil internal schematic

Just trying to do some calculations on the TI coil for some additional content in the Ignition sticky. Has anyone seen an actual schematic of the internal connections? The standard points coil schematic is quite common out there, but I'm striking out finding the internal routing in the TI coil. It looks like there's perhaps more than one way Delco might have connected stuff in there given the electrical limitations.of the amplifier box.

Thanks.

the difference in wiring for TI system was changed so if you shorted out the 12 volt input wiring to the coil you did not blow out the amp box. the coil internally should be the same. some owners would try to remove or put on the dist shield with the engine running and it would cause a short and blow out the amp.

I never paid much attention to the harness difference over the years. You got me curious about what they changed. I'll have to take a comparative look at those harnesses. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Back on topic, I'm still trying (unsuccessfully) to find the actual internal wiring arrangement of the TI coils. If someone does happen to see those internal details of that coil I'd appreciate the information.

as far as I know the turns ratio is the only difference in the coils

IIRC, the turns ratio, resistance, and inductance is different than the points usage coils. The points coil has the C+ terminal tied to the "positive" side of the secondary winding (the negative side of the secondary winding always goes to the sparkplug). I'm trying to find out which terminal (C+ or C-) the "positive" side of the secondary winding is tied to.

I have a working TI coil you can play with. Can't open it, but you can measure all you want to. Be home Saturday.

Hey Tim, I appreciate that. I think I can get the info I need with a 9v battery, a 10k resistor, and a voltmeter.

I just got home myself, so if you can PM your address I'll see you Saturday. I've got a several year old phone number of yours, so please let me know if it's still good or been replaced.

Thanks again,
Mike

Same phone number. I haven't got my travel yet so no idea what time I get in.
