Great tool. Mine came with a Craftsman rethreading kit. I had to use the file on one of my shock mounts since I didn't have a rethreading die large enough to screw onto the shock mount.

I have had a set of those in my tool box for the past 25 years. I used to use them by running over a screw while it was spinning in a lathe.
Worked pretty good but won't restore a worn away thread just a slightly rolled one.

I bought a thread restorer set a while back---mainly to use on bolt holes. There were 3 of these files in the kit. I must be stupid because I coulgn't figure out what these files were for.

gotta get me one of those! I definitely remember needing one.... being stuck with some screwed up threads just like in the example, tho I can't remember exactly what it was or the outcome... MJ
