Default Very useful tool.....is it in your toolbox?

The threads were badly messed up on my left rear spindle....

...but this "thread file" took care of the repairs with ease.

Twenty minutes of easy labour and all's well.

Great tool. Mine came with a Craftsman rethreading kit. I had to use the file on one of my shock mounts since I didn't have a rethreading die large enough to screw onto the shock mount.

I have had a set of those in my tool box for the past 25 years. I used to use them by running over a screw while it was spinning in a lathe.
Worked pretty good but won't restore a worn away thread just a slightly rolled one.

I bought a thread restorer set a while back---mainly to use on bolt holes. There were 3 of these files in the kit. I must be stupid because I coulgn't figure out what these files were for.

How are they used??

Sincerely,
A Moron!

I have one and bought it for the exact reason you used it. Did that almost 10 years ago and it has come in handy for a few other repairs since.
