Is anyone running this combination without spacers and with 27" tall tires?
I'm running 18 x 8"s with 255/45/18's with 4" backspace. Whilst OD is same as stock for year (1968) - with the low profile tyres the outer 'corners' of the tyres can rub on frame and/or fender opening depending on car. 4.5" may be marginal.
Standard wheel width on C-3s is 8" with approximately 4" back spacing [except 68]. 18x8s should have 4" bs. If you use 4.5 bs then your are tucking the wheels in. I'm running 18x9 with 4.5 bs on the 69 and achieved IMO an excellent width stance [with totally stock suspension], and the wheel house flares on the newer C-3s 'just scream give me wider wheels'. T

I know '68 had 7" wide wheels as stock - what was the backspace?

I realize that but finding a wheel I like with 18x8 4" bs without doing custom wheels is a bitch. I doubt a wider tire with 27 height will fit.

I feel your pain, when I was looking at wheels I saw the same thing. What year is your vette? Have you looked at 18x9s? The only mod you might have to make is relocating the p/b cable mount for 4.5 b/s. I'm not even sure if that mod is necessary, but some one here can answer that. I had 1 rusted t/a so I put offset ones on and am running 18x10 with 5"b/s on rear. Our vettes are so cool looking you don't want to loose that wide track look they have. IMO our vettes look the best with a 50% back spacing. T

I am and no rubbing/interference. Did you get my pics I sent you? The wheel sits too far inboard for my liking but I'm stuck with that due to clearance issues when I put a 1-1/4" spacers on. Had the exact look I wanted but it rubbed.

I did get them, were they with or without spacers? With as much as a PITA this is becoming wonder what it would take to set th ebody on a c4 chassis?

The pics were without spacers. The body on my car is shifted to the left by a 1/4". I'm not sure why but I'm the third owner. I attribute the misalignment for the tire rubbing the fenders with a spacer that I tried. One tire rubbed the front of the fender during turning and the other tire rubbed the rear of the fender. A tire diameter of 26-1/2" or less probably wouldn't have any interference on MY car with a spacer.

I have 18x8-4.5 in front and rear of my '80 with 255x45-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 SUPERCAR tires all around. Both front tires rubbed on the frame at full turn with Steeroids. I fixed the problem with 3/8" hub centric spacers our son made with extended conical lug nuts to grab enough thread to be safe.
