Default Brake Light issue

Both of my blinkers work; I replaced the brake switch and still do not have working brake lights. Is it possible that I have switched the connectors on the brake light switch? Can't seem to understand what else can be wrong. Thanks in advance.

You should confirm that the BRAKE light fuse is good by checking for power on both sides of the clips that hold the fuse.
Then confirm that you have power into the brake switch and out of the switch with the brake pedal depressed.
Then check "P" at the harmonic connection.

Also make sure the switch is adjusted correctly and that you didn't get a "bad" new switch. When mine went bad years ago It took three to get one that worked from the local auto parts store.

The brake fuse is the same as the stop hazard fuse in blue, correct? I got some funky fuses that won't allow me to check them with the light.

You can test that type of fuse by grounding one end of your test light and probe the metal slit to the left and right of the fuse rating.

I went to autozone and got more 20A fuzes and hazard fuse. I wiggled the 20A STOP HAZ fuse and my light started beaming in the back, then it started to smoke so I yanked the fuze out. I went to put in another fuse and it sparked so i disconnected the brake light switch and now I am at a loss what to do

Are you saying that the turn signals work properly?
Do the hazards work?
What happens if you remove the hazard flasher?

Are you working on a 1980?

The turn signals work. I replaced the top hazard flash with a 552 however I haven't changed the bottom 552 yet.
The hazard flashers do not work.
I am working on a 1980.
That smoking fuse was a definite freak out.
