I have completed rebuilding the original 350 motor and am ready to install in the car. Unfortunately I bought the car in pieces, sooo am trying to mark and Identify the disconnected wires.I think I have figured out all the obvious ones, ( i.e. alt., starter oil and h2o sending unit etc.
But there are a couple that I can not find in manual or elsewhere. Any help would be great, planning to put motor in next week end.
There are 2 wires coming out close to the brake booster on the drivers side, one is orange with a slide on female end ( i would say 12 to 14 gauge) the other is yellow and about the same size, it has no end left on it.
The other wire is at the back close to the dist wire and is black with what looks like a capacitor on it.
Could this go to the (idle solenoid?) It comes off a yellow wire on the fire wall. Thankful for any help,
The yellow and orange wires by the brake booster go to the alarm horn. The horn is mounted on the firewall behind the booster. If the horn isn't there or you don't connect them be certain to tape off the orange wire as it is hot at all times via the CTSY fuse.
Yes, that is a capacitor. It helps prevent the radio from picking up electrical noises. (AM is especially prone to such.) It originally mounted at the rear of the intake manifold near the vacuum port.
