DIY: aluminum fan shroud for standard radiator
The 68-72 radiator fan shrouds for all but the base engine, no AC cars were made of light weight fiberglass. The base engine with no AC got a fan shroud made from 9.5 lbs of steel. There is nothing fiberglass or aluminum in the aftermarket to fit the standard radiator short of going electric fans with their built in shrouds.
Bought some .040 sheet aluminum from an online retailer shipped to my door for about $30. Made a paper template from the original and started cutting with tin snips and riveting together. About an hour later had a prototype put together that weighs 4.5 lbs so dropped an honest 5 lbs from the front of the car.
(Not sure why the pics are posting upside down, just tilt your head)

1 suggestion, if you had tucked your moon shape mounting tabs on the inside of the shroud,
with the rivets. the end product would be much cleaner end result.
always Nice to see people actually make stuff. good job !
