Ride height, errr, i mean ride low
how low can a c3 go before there a problem with tires hitting fender, ya I searched and searched and haven't found a definitive answer
running 245/60r15 on front, sitting at 26.5 inches from ground to bottom of fender lip. Have the 550 lb springs but had to cut them to get lower, or did I @#$% up?

You can keep cutting the spring to go lower but you may run into alignment issues. Your best bet is to get coil overs and then you can adjust your ride height

As already mentioned, alignment / suspension geometry problems often determine the practical limit for lowered C3 ride heights. Suggest you not go lower than 1" - 1.25" front "Z" height, nor lower than 1.25" rear "D" height. That said, to minimize adverse rear toe-steer it's preferable to set the rear ride height so as to locate the inner u-joint CLs 1/2" higher than the outer ones, and then raise the diff in the chassis to achieve the desired ride height relative to the body.
