4spd sticking in second
When I shift hard into second gear the transmission gets stuck. I have to get under the car and put a wrench on the nut for the second gear linkage arm on the transmission, and then it comes right out of gear. This has happened with two different hurst shifters, so I don't think it is the shifter, any ideas?

has this transmission been rebuilt recently? you mentioned two different hurst shifters but not whether it was doing this prior to the shifters. it sounds to me like the angle of the shift rods might be binding if you can't get out with the shifter but you can with the wrench. that is my guess. you will likely have to readjust all three rods to maintain the correct neutral but the second gear rod needs to be adjusted farther back.

My car did this with a Hurst shifter for a long time. I adjusted it all kinds of ways and never could get it right. Then one time while I was under there I realized that I had installed one of the rods on the wrong side of the lever arm, causing the 1-2 rod to jam on the 3-4 rod. I removed the clip, rotated it 180 degrees and reinstalled it, haven't had a problem since. It's been awhile since I made the change, so I forget the details, but you should check to see exactly where it is binding. It may be the same problem I had.
