column lock plates - interchangeable between T&T/standard ?
i've been spending the last couple of weeks rebuilding my 74 non tilt steering column. it started out with the goal of replacing the turn signal switch but due to my tendency to deconstruct more than i need to has turned into the column now on my bench.
So my question - in the process of rebuilding i believe i have bent my lock plate (please don't ask how - screwup on my part i'm kicking myself for). it was causing the shaft to not turn freely as the plate was hitting the turn signal switch in a couple of places.
i've tried to 'straighten' the plate as much as possible with an anvil/hammer but its still not perfect.
i have looked online and can't seem to find lock plates sold at any of the regular vette suppliers.
a few folks have them for sale on e-bay but the ones they are selling are all for tilt/tele.
So my question - anyone know whether a Tilt/tele lock plate is compatible with a standard column ? if not - any other pointers where to get a new lock plate ?
I did PM Jim Shea. Hoping he responds. Thanks the game earlier poster for the eBay links. I did see some of those links as well and the lock plates 'look' the same but the posting says they are for 69-72 making me think they are somehow different than my 74
