I`ve just pulled my engine and í`m now looking at a h*ell of a mess with old cabels(AC stuff thats no more in action),dead end cabels and years of grime and filth.
First question:What have you used to paint the engine compartment?Normal spray paint or something else?
Second question:The old AC cabels. What to do with them.I feel that cutting them would be a shame if i later to decide to reassemble the AC equipment.
Third question:This will be a "while i`m at it" type of question.
I`m considiering to redo my front end and i`m looking to replace all the rubber bushings with poly.
What does a complete set of Polybushing cost?SUMMIT?Any reactions on the differens in handling?
I just redid my engine compartment with my engine rebuild. I painted it with black engine enamal. A few days ago i also removed my AC condensor and compressor. It really cleaned it up and took alot of weight off the front of the car
I was going to suggest the John Deere Blitz Black, readily available at your local John Deere tractor dealer. But, I'm not sure if the Swedish version, "Jonas Deere" has the same paint :)

 Thanks for the laugh! I needed that after the day I had.
If you're thinking about putting the A/C system back into life, you might want to do it the Vintage Air Way! You can get rid of all the old A/C stuff, fill the hole in the firewall or just do a block of plate like you see in my sig. You can use small Sanden compressor to finish the job. JMHO :yesnod:
You can simply remove the whole A/C system. If you can, take out the evaporator too, then you won't have any of that stuff left. except for a few wires for the compressor clutch and the pressure switch.

Krylon will do you just fine. As far a Poly bushings PST makes a top quality set and are fairly inexpensive.
....remember to buy several cans for several layered coats waiting in btwn. coats for ample drying time & "semi-gloss black" is the correct factory color. :yesnod:
Also, you might want to check out Energy Suspension for poly bushings....
I have detailed many c3 engine bays,I always use eastwoods underhood black. It works great But its best doing it on a dry day.First thing I always do is completely empty the engine bay of wires ,cables ,brackets and radiator support.I know that sounds like alot but its worth it.Degrease everything with your favorite degreaser and pressure wash it if possible.Paint the engine bay and then clean and paint all of the parts as it goes back together. And for the love of god please dont paint everything black .Some of those parts were bare metal from the factory and they make paint to simulate that. That is my biggest pet peave. :yesnod: :yesnod:

Strongly agree!! I love the look of a black firewall/inner fenders with lot's of aluminum, natural cast parts, stainless, silver cad, maybe even a little chrome. I dislike alot of painted stuff under the hood...
Well, the fenderwalls will be black same with the firewall. The frame is also black,The A arms are black.
The engine it self is black :D .
Should i paint the engine bay the same color as the car(Yellow)
I removed the fan setup today. That was a nice piece of PITA :smash: :smash:
It will be replaced with a sheet of stainless steel with a new blower setup.
The cabels that go to to fusebox, how can i disconnect them?Is it just to grab hold of them and yank èm out or is there a more civilised way to go? :smash:
I really need your opinions on colors.I`m totally lost here.

There is a screw located in the center of the connector on the firewall. Remove the screw and the wiring jarness connector will pull right off.
I could be wrong, but I thought there was one phillipes screw in the center. If not, just wiggle the @#$% out of it while pulling gently.
I used a Satin or Underhood black for the compartment. I used Cast Blast for the steering box and master cylinder. I used Gold Carb renew for the brake booster but Eastwood has some better stuff now.
If you want original, get the NCRS Judging manual for your car at http://www.ncrs.org. If not, look at other forum members website, steal what you think you would like, and go for it.
ps: Don't grab the wires going to the fuse box. The whole fuse box is too pieces. If you pull the individual wires out, you have problem! :smash:
Has anybody ever painted the A arms and steering linkage in another color than black?
Every thing else in my enginecompartment is black, and a thought maybe anoteher color on the A arms and linkage could brighten make things a little more nicer. :smash:
How about Chevy red?White?Yellow?Pink  ?

Frank (454BIG) painted, or power coated his suspension stuff along with the whole frame RED! I think it looked real good. Haven't heard from Frank lately, wonder where he is!
Oh, I did remove my whole fan set up, I replaced my whole cooling system with :
