1977 gauge cluster
I am replacing the circuit panel behind the gauge cluster and noticed the bulb next to the clock has a small 2" circuit board attached to it. What is it for and is it necessary? The videos I have seen do not show it. They just show an ordinary bulb. I do not care about the clock!

The circuit board you see is actually the low fuel warning module for a 1977-1982 and it doesn't go in the hole you have it it, it goes in the upper one beside the fuel gauge. If you install your pcb board on the back of the cluster you can leave the hole empty, but if you install a bulb in there it will stay on whenever the key is turned on. So either leave it empty or install the low fuel warning module (after testing) in the hole.
The picture below shows you the correct installation of the module.

When I replaced the printed circuit in mine the low fuel module fit rather loosely. Some time later I decided to test it to find that I ran out of gas before it lit. Upon disassembly the module had come loose. I believe this is because the new printed circuits are significantly thinner than the old. My solution was to cut a thin piece of pressboard (from the back of a notepad) to use as a spacer between the housing and the printed circuit.

Before installing that back in the gauge cluster, take a trip
over to the Willcox website and watch the video they made
on bench testing it.
Very simple with 12V and a jumper wire.

yeah, never mind.
"The ZX2 Convenience Group included the dome light delay, headlight warning buzzer, underhood light, low fuel warning light, interior courtesy lights, and the passenger side visor mirror. Early in production, the low-fuel warning light wasn’t available, so Chevrolet deleted it and reduced the cost of the option to $18.00. Quantity of low-fuel light deletes was 3,881."
