Default About installing a TH200

I started looking around the local area for a th200 which as I understand will basicly bolt rite in.
the looks I am getting from the local guys make me think that there is a horn growing out of my head.
They all think it is a big mistake bolting that up to my 325 HP 350
now I know there are some of you who have done it, what's your take on this am I just setting myself up for disaster or what.
my car has like I said a 325hp 350 Th350 with a 4.11 gear set
that is why I am thinking of a th200 as I understand it the th700 and a little too low of a first gear for my application.
any help and informed opinions would be welcomed
Thanks

I don't have first hand experience, but my understanding is that a 200-4R
can be built to take as much torque and HP as a 700R4.
This site has the heavy duty parts for the 200-4R, I've not dealt with them so I offer it as an example of whats available http://www.2004rperformancecenter.com

Whichever you buy, 700 or 200, make sure it comes from a vendor who KNOWS how to build these babies! It's my understanding the 700 has a lot of weakness in the 3/4 clutches. The 200 was originally used in the Buick GNX and Monte Carlo SS, but regardless it still needs to be properly rebuilt/beefed up.

Bowtie has really been pushing the 200s lately -- perhaps they figured out how to do them right and stand behind them. I hope so, cuz that's what I've got!

So you bought a Th200 from bow tie
Tell me about it
1 how much
2 what did that include(cable, wiring, dipstick, speedo calkit, shifter conversion kit
3 do you like it
4 was it easy to install (ie rear mount/crossmember.)
Any information would be a great help. I try'd to contact them and get a price on everything that I would need but they haven't resonded yet.
Oh yes do you still have the instructions that they suplied. I would love to have a look at those if it is not too much troulble.

Thanks in advance

I´d go with a beefed up TH2004R.
The main reason for my decision is the shift drop of the TH700R4 from 1st to 2nd gear. Not good for acceleration. You´ll need a motor with much torque in lower rpm areas.
TH 200 can be built up to 500+ HP I read, nevertheless the TH700 will be able to take even more.
I plan to switch to a TH200 maybe in one or two years, we´ll see.

Here are the answers, Aaron:
1 how much -- about $1600 for all parts. Send them an email again -- perhaps they missed the first one or got busy. They will ultimately reply with a detailed response listing everything you need and prices. Also, prices are listed on their website (www.700r4.com). Prices for 700s and 200s are identical, and 200s are available in different Levels. (I have a Level 2.)
2 what did that include(cable, wiring, dipstick, speedo calkit, shifter conversion kit -- everything
3 do you like it -- YES! The only thing I don't like is its tendency to stay 4th gear when slowing down. I manually lockout 4th gear when in town.
4 was it easy to install (ie rear mount/crossmember.) -- Very easy to install in pre-81 Vettes with TH350 transmissions. Bolts directly to the crossmember. No cutting, drilling or welding.

I do have minor leaks, especially out of the pan, but I attribute that more to installation issues. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
