The 3 speed auto trans in my 78 vette is not changing when the 4 barral carp is open?
New to me vette and never drove a 3speed auto with a 350 cid motor but im sure this is a bad trans...is there something i don't know i shoud?
The trans will not kick down just because you floor it, you need to be below a certain speed before that will happen, to protect the engine from over-speeding.
The kick down cable is attached to the carb below the accelerator cable, you should be able to adjust it so it is fully extended when the pedal is floored.
Edit: Make sure the accelerator is opening up the carb all the way. These cars are notorious for bending the accelerator pedal arm, or just too many floor mats under the pedal. While someone holds the pedal floored, make sure the carb is wot also.
