I will be installing a new Transgo shift kit in my th350 probably sometime this week and was wondering if anyone had used the "race only" spring in there car and there thoughts on it? Also this is a new to me transmission and I know it is good but is there a visual way to see if there might already be a kit installed without taking the entire valve body off?
My 79 came with a th350 I put in a tranny kit that required all the mods drilling, plate, springs, deeper pan pan tranny cooler reverse valve shifting lever and 3000 stall converter
So it was a manual slash auto tranny
Once you make something that is a racing type tranny and beat on it longivity goes way down you can make it a tire churning bang instant shifting tranny. But something has to give

Does it shift firm now?
The "race only" spring makes for very violent shifts.......cool if you are 20 years old and like the "chirp".
I believe this combines with removing an extra check ball as well.....
Would I put it in myself at 46? No.
I see no reason for a trans to shift that hard.......just go with the "RV" and you should be happy.....
Thanks for the replies. I don't know how it shifts it is still on the shelf at home I did tear into it last night and it doesn't have a kit in so I ordered the transgo. To be honest I don't know how a 350 is supposed to shift. The one I have in it how seems to be on its last leg since I got it. I pulled it apart and put a shift kit in it and it still didn't help so still not sure what one is supposed to be like. I just don't want to have any regrets but at the same time I don't want to put any unnecessary stress in the trans. I mean it is a corvette it is supposed to be fun to drive
I have a TH350 with a shift kit in it. The trans came with the shift kit installed for street/strip from B&M.
On mine it also came with an adjustable modulator. This softens the shift for non-full throttle shifts.
While shifting normally it is not violent or unpleasant. However when you get on it at full throttle it's firm and immediate. Best of both worlds IMO.
It may take some tweeking on the modulator to get it right but once you find it no more adjustments are needed.
I also have a 3000 stall torque converter so it might be moderating some of the shock in the shifts for normal driving.
