Default spark plug wire set - recommendations, correct MSD part #?

I changed left bank of plugs no issue. I bought MSD PN 35599 which should be correct as per Autozone. I tried to match up lengths with 2 & 3 the longest, then 4 & 1 next longest, then 5 & 6 same, and 8 & 7 the shortest.

The MSD wires were too short for plugs 1 and 3, no way to route under the header was laying on the side of manifold. My upper heat shields around the plugs are there and clips for the zip ties, lower boomerang shield is missing.

Can anyone suggest a good spark plug wire set that is long enough to route under the manifold?

Taylor Spiro-Pro Spark Plug Wire Set 73051

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tay-73051

These wires are 8mm, but I had no difficulty fitting them in the wire looms. I have them on my '63 and my '73 with full ignition shielding.

Good luck... GUSTO

Dumb question - does the larger MSD labeled boot go on the plug or on the distributor? I have seen folks do it both ways.

That is the plug end.

Seems like that large MSD labeled boot will not even fit around the upper heat shield above plugs?

They work. Just tight under the motor mounts. You have to thread them in backwards with a string.Name: PICT0009.JPG

The Taylor Spiro-Pro Set #73051 are 8mm like the factory HEI wires and come with two sets of distributor ends that you will need to attach. One set is for a normal points distributor cap and the other is for an HEI distributor cap.

The nice thing is that without the distributor ends being on, you can feed them from the plugs up to the distributor with no difficulty. The front 4 plug wires can also be fed behind the motor mounts as well like the factory did. The wires are also long enough that you can trim some off of the end after they are run to get a perfect fit, but not so long that you have to if you don't want to.

Good luck... GUSTO
