Dead Spot on Acceleration
My '69 has a Holley 670 Street Avenger on it. When I put my foot on the gas to go from a stop the car really hesitates before it goes. If I want to go from a stop or low rpm I have to really go easy on it.
Today I put my foot on the gas and I could feel the car choking and it stalled. Now...had I let off the gas it would have "recovered" and I would have been fine.
PO says carb has been rebuilt recently.
Any suggestions? I really don't know a lot about carbs so go slow...
Thanks Steve

Accelerator pump is not functioning properly. Where I would look first at least.

X3. Accelerator pump is either not working properly or possibly needs to be adjusted.

Adjust the accelerator pump to give you a bit more fuel. Not sure on that carb, but typically is as easy as adjusting the mechanical link into a closer hole to make the accelerator pump activate a bit sooner.

this is the Holley video on how to adjust the accelerator pump

Thanks. I watched the Holley video. Gonna check the accelerator pump.

fuel line maybe.
I had the exact symptoms and it was a combination of a shade tree mechanics fix for a kinked metal line (pump to carb was causing it to starve) and a clogged(ing) fuel filter. replaced both and now it is way more responsive and aggressive, but still has a very mild stutter. I will be looking into the spark plugs and wires and work my way back to the distributor. Fuel has some junk in it also, I have gone through 4 filters already.
Regards,
Will
P.S I did have a sticky accelerator pump that wasn't helping.(first thing I replaced before moving on to the rest)

Thanks to everyone for your help.
With the help of my mechanic friend, we swapped out the 65 nozzles and replaced them with 68s. He adjusted the timing and the car runs awesome now. No hesitation.
He checked float, mixture, all fine. It was the small nozzles as he predicted.
As Ed China would say "Job done."
